Pass A1 through A8 and meet the experience requirement, and you hold Master Automobile Technician status.

How many questions are on an ASE test?
A-series tests carry 40–50 scored questions plus about 10 unscored research questions, with 60–90 minutes depending on the test.
What score do I need to pass?
ASE uses scaled scoring and does not publish a fixed percentage; roughly 65–70% correct is the commonly cited range. Practice to 80%+ so you have margin.
How much does ASE certification cost?
Each test is $62 plus a single $34 registration fee per order (2026). All eight A-series tests in one order run about $530.
Are these the official ASE questions?
No — these are original study questions written from the published task-list topics. The official exams are administered by ASE at proctored test centers.
